Power facilities targeted in the region
The country's energy systems have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were wounded while inhabitants in the city's east were experienced blackouts and dealt with problems to water systems, per reports from municipal leaders.

At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, based on information from local officials.

Russian forces has increased strikes on power infrastructure over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from allies to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the America, European nations and the Group of Seven - in supplying protection systems and applying sanctions," mentioned in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 projectiles struck energy facilities, labeling such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles damaged power facilities and civilian homes in the capital.

Multiple people wounded in the assaults on the city have been hospitalized, as confirmed by local officials.
